“I sense the Holy Spirit is singing a song over you. Do you hear it?” I asked my participant, who had been going through an incredibly difficult time.
They closed their eyes and listened for a moment. A few seconds later, they began to sing not just the song that was in my head—but, specifically, the bridge—the exact part of the song that was in my head.
Over the next few days, the song started showing up quite a bit on their Spotify account. A few weeks later, during one of our sessions, the song came on and then suspiciously repeated itself as soon as it was done.
Their life continued to grow more desperate. As we met again for another exorcism session, they fell asleep and the song began to play. When the bridge hit, I watched as their eyes began to shake underneath their eyelids. When the bridge ended, they woke up and reported that they had just dreamt that God was reaching out to them.
I was astounded. I rewound the song to right before the bridge and let it play again. This time, their open eyes entered a daze as they saw the same vision of God reaching out for them. In amazement, I did this two or three more times, yielding the same result. God had met them in their darkest moment with a beautiful and powerful vision.
They felt the Holy Spirit speak to them later that night and say that they would not continue to experience this moment. It was a momentary gift meant to help carry them through the chaos.
I reflect on this moment often. God is good and loves us dearly.
