“I guess we’re not doing anything more until we invite her to help us as a sponsor,” I told my participant.
During our sessions, the Holy Spirit kept bringing our friend to my participant’s mind. I didn’t give it much thought at first, but then we had one specific session where the Holy Spirit wouldn’t let us do any work on the exorcism. For half an hour straight, the participant only had dreamscape visions of their friend helping us. So we reached out to our friend and she joined the next session.
And it was a darn good thing we did. In that next session we found a hidden demon who preyed on past pain to enforce the belief that all men are the same. The full weight of the demon’s lie came to the surface in that moment and I immediately knew there was nothing I could say as a man.
“Well now we know part of the reason we needed help,” I smiled at my sponsor. I stepped back to let the two women sort it out. They did wonderfully. And in time, the Holy Spirit gave our participant a powerful vision to help her combat the demon’s lie.
When it comes to exorcism, you don’t know what’s ahead of you. There are layers upon layers in this kind of ministry. From science, to psychology, to the supernatural—there’s a lot to discern through. The good news is that the Holy Spirit is the helper (John 14:26) of our wonderful counselor (Isaiah 9:6). When you do deliverance with him as your director, he sometimes takes care of your blind spots ahead of time, for he knows every single layer of a person’s life.
