“They don’t like you.” “Oh, I can’t repeat that.” “They’re angry at you.” “They hate you.”
These are all comments my exorcism participants make fairly regularly, to which I typically reply, “Yeah, I get that a lot.”
My method of exorcism revolves around dealing with demons in the mind rather than making them manifest in the body. While this can still be chaotic, it’s typically much less so. Regardless of the way in which they speak, they sound exactly the same. There’s lots of cursing, vulgar comments, and threats.
It’ll mess with your head a bit when someone who never curses manifests a demon and starts dropping f-bombs. Sometimes, the transition is so quick that you won’t even see it happen. One moment, you’re talking to your friend and the next, they’re saying the most vulgar things. At that point, the demon has to be put away so things can get back on track. Unless you discern that the Holy Spirit has pushed them to the forefront so that they can be questioned or dealt with in some way, you should generally gather that they have manifested to distract you.
There are two primary rules I try to follow in the process of exorcism: (1) I want the demons to stay in the mind where they’re easier to deal with, and (2) I prefer to primarily talk to the Holy Spirit if he’s willing (which he usually is). If I need to address the demon, I’ll force it forward in the mind. But more often than not, I spend 85% of the exorcism working with the Holy Spirit and 15% of the time addressing demons directly.
