The name for The Exorcist’s Bestiary popped into my mind one night and immediately had my attention. I imagined one of those old medieval books that documented different kinds of creatures, but instead, it was an exorcist trying to document the different types of demons they had encountered. In its pages were sketches of demons along with their names, characteristics, weaknesses, strategies, and so on.
When this idea popped into my head, I had done hundreds of hours of constant deliverance ministry, and it felt like it was time to start educating others on how to do it. I remember praying about it the next day and asking the Holy Spirit if he would give me a word to validate that this new project was a worthwhile effort. I already had enough quirks in my life to ostracize me. If I embraced this project as fully as I planned, there was no turning back.
I felt like I heard the Holy Spirit say, “A word? Oh, I don’t know… how about ‘bestiary?’” I got a good kick out of that moment. Though I knew this word, it wasn’t in my regular vocabulary or anything. It just snuck up on me, and I was immediately drawn to it.
For many, words like “exorcism” and “demons” are terrifying. I get that, but the church was told that they would storm the gates of Hell, not the other way around. I desire to help people do just that, and to do it effectively. I want to naturalize exorcism, not mystify it even more.
That being said, tomorrow, I’ll be taking my blog/podcast to 1208 Greenwood Church for Reveal Conference where I’ll try to help those in attendance get a better grip on deliverance ministry. They’ll hear my stories and the stories of others who have helped me and gone through the process. They’ll hear testimonies of deliverances in the form of original music. They’ll learn the deliverance process I’ve created over the years and get a chance to meet with the Holy Spirit in a very special way. I hope you’ll consider joining us 🙂
