“I perceive that power has gone out from me,” Jesus said after a woman was healed from touching his cloak. I always thought Jesus was the only one who could discern what that felt like, but I’ve come to know it in my own way in deliverance ministry.
When the Holy Spirit needs me to address demons directly in some way, there is an energy of sorts that courses through my body. This morning is a good example of the experience. Around one in the morning, I woke up from a concerning dream. I could feel it beckoning me to keep paying attention, as though it had something disturbing it wanted to communicate, but it needed me to concentrate. Fortunately, I came out of the dream before it fully got there. In a tired haze, I wondered what was going on. Was it just a weird dream or demonic?
I closed my eyes and tried to go back to sleep, but the dream continued. Again, it felt like there was something extra to it. It wanted to show me something dark, but it needed me to concentrate and be willing to hear the message. I opened my eyes again and wondered if it was some kind of demonic attack.
Without amping myself up whatsoever, I whispered a few words in tongues. As the very first word left my lips, a strong energy immediately pulsed through my body. For lack of a better expression, “I perceived that power had gone out from me.” I continued speaking until the pulse stopped, made a quick note in my journal about it, and then headed back to bed.
Deliverance ministry is an ethereal ministry. You have to get used to following the Spirit in faith. In time, you’ll begin to put together the signals of what’s what and how the Holy Spirit works in you. You’ll be able to better discern when your body is responding to emotion and when it’s responding to the Spirit. Over long periods of time, you’ll get used to sensing the invisible, and that which once seemed intangible will become a bit more coherent.
