I was in the middle of a normal brain dream when something happened that felt a little extra. There was a guitar case with a sticker on it that said, “Prima facie.” Curious as to why I was dreaming in Latin, I woke up and googled the phrase to find that it was about trusting first impressions.
Was this a nudge from the Holy Spirit or just random like the rest of the dream? If it was from the Holy Spirit, then what was I supposed to apply this to? I quickly typed it down on my phone so I wouldn’t forget.
Sometime later, I was leading someone through deliverance. Based on the evidence I had, I assumed that they were still dealing with demons, but I was unsure as the demons had been silent. I had the participant ask the Holy Spirit if there were still any demons around. They paused and listened momentarily and then gave a hair-raising response: “I gave Jamin two words in a dream.”
What were those words again? I wondered as I pulled out my phone and scrolled to find them. It all started to click. What was inside the guitar case? Prima facie: a guitar—it’s exactly what it looks like. Was my participant who looked like they were still dealing with demons actually still dealing with demons? This answer was also prima facie.
I had experienced dreams from the Spirit before, but it was that day that I learned a new dimension to dreams. In the same way that you can be awake and experience normal life when a thought from the Spirit can pop into your head, so can you be asleep and experience normal dreams when a thought from the Spirit can pop into your head. So, if you sense the Holy Spirit trying to tell you something in the middle of a dream, don’t write it off. He doesn’t always craft the whole dream—sometimes just a moment in it. Write those moments down for later discernment.
