The Exorcist's Bestiary

A Big Bold Beautiful Journey is a story about inner healing, in which two broken people are given a GPS that leads them toward magical doors that return them to various parts of their history so they might address them. This movie is a great example of what we at The Exorcist’s Bestiary call “Dreamscaping.” This technique allows the Holy Spirit to impress a story on the participant’s imagination. It is not uncommon during such times of prayer for the Holy Spirit to bring up past memories or locations to the participant.

Sometimes we enter into a location so we can re-experience the feeling of being there. Sometimes we enter into the memory and watch them be replayed so we can heal through them piece by piece. Sometimes we watch Jesus experience the memory with us as he gives us insight. Sometimes we’re taken to places to imagine how other people processed their pain. Sometimes we’re taken somewhere to deal with the way we wronged someone. Sometimes we’re taken to fantastical places where parables are given to us to consider. Sometimes these visions don’t advance until we’ve learned the lesson. The list goes on of the ways in which the Wonderful Counselor will work to bring healing to our souls.

While all of this may be happening inside the mind as our spirit dances with the Holy Spirit, it sometimes feels more real than reality itself. Dreamscaping is its own big, bold, beautiful journey where Jesus plays the part of the GPS, as he guides us to the next place that needs a touch of love.
