Exorcist

Free Methodist Pastor.

I am an ordained pastor in the Free Methodist Church. I’ve pastored 1208 Greenwood Church, an urban church in Jackson, MI, for over a decade. Our congregation has been open to experimenting with different church models. Before the pandemic, we hosted a Dinner Church, which reached many impoverished and homeless people in our city. After the pandemic, we changed to our current model, which incorporates a cereal bar before service and a ministry hour after. Our church also launched two other kinds of churches, including a fully online model known as JXN Cloud (which we’ve since retired) and Nerd Church JXN, a hybrid church that reaches out to the Comic-Con crowd. I am also the pastor at Promise Church and David’s Promise, a ministry created by Compassionate Ministries of Jackson County, which works primarily with adults with disability and their caretakers.

Exorcist.

Over the last few years, the Holy Spirit helped me develop a form of exorcism that revolves around counseling sessions and the Christian tradition of imaginative prayer. This kind of ministry has become a very steady part of my pastoral work, and many have found freedom in these sessions as the Holy Spirit has done powerful work. Many meaningful and bizarre things have happened in these meetings, and I’ve started to feel a deep call into this much-needed work.

Mystic.

Like the Christian Mystics of old, I have always desired to find God’s intimacy and embrace his supernatural ways. For awhile I used words like Pentecostal or Charismatic to emphasize this interest of mine, but these terms carry a lot of connotations that don’t belong with me. Therefore, I’ve settled for Mystic, which embodies this part of my faith. I love to help people grow in spiritual gifts and experience the Holy Spirit. And as a worship leader, my favorite worship songs tend to have the same kind of intimate vibes that the saints of old leaned into.

Theologian.

I have a Bachelor’s in Pastoral Ministry from Spring Arbor University and a Master’s in Theology and Social Justice from Northeastern Seminary. Currently, my library primarily consists of monographs, scholarly works, and a lot of C.S. Lewis. I love biblical scholarship and entertaining ideas on the fringes of theology to see where they might lead. Theology is a bit like a puzzle to me, and I often feel like some pieces have been crammed into the wrong spots. I like to take them out, stand back to look at the bigger picture, and try again.

Activist.

My heart has long been convicted of helping the poor and marginalized around me. To do this, I’ve served with many organizations in my city, including Compassionate Ministries of Jackson (board member), Jackson County Continuum of Care (coalition member), Drug Free Jackson (chaired for two years), Light Up the City Jackson (co-chaired), and the Justice Action Team of the Southern Michigan Conference of the Free Methodist Church(member). I also worked with local doctors to co-found JXN Harm Reduction. After establishing a memorandum of understanding with our city council, we went on to help addicts stay safe and even led some of them into recovery. After proving ourselves to the city, we became a permanent legal organization, which we gave to a local recovery shelter to run.

Author.

After blogging for many years at jaminbradley.com, I started writing books that have varied greatly in size and theme. My publications include A Taste of Jesus: Growing the Fruit of the Spirit (2017), Alien Theology: The God of Two Trillion Galaxies (2017), The Rush and the Rest: The Holy Spirit and the Supernatural World (2018), Kaiju of Biblical Proportions (2019), Fantasy IRL: Glimpses of a Hidden World (2019), The Rise of the Water Kingdom(2019), God’s Grand Framework: Finding Our Place in God’s Story (2020), Spirit Infused Worship (2022), Bible Smarts and Robot Arts (2022), and Supernatural Justice (2023).

Musician.

As an artist and worship leader, I’ve written quite a bit of music over the years. My favorite fuller works are my concept albums, which include an experimental journey through Narnia called Of Lampposts and Lions, and another journey through the Song of Songs. When it comes to my singles, my favorite tracks are the ones with unapologetically theological lyrics, like DescendWhat is ManThe Age that’s to Come, and Look to the Stars. Outside of these projects, I make a lot of instrumental ambientpiano, and guitar music.

Nerd.

If you want to know my hobbies, think nerd. I love sci-fi and fantasy. I play lots of video games and board games. I watch a lot of cartoons. I like weird discussions. I have a Narnia tattoo sleeve. I geek out on biblical mythology. I play with LEGO’s. I make stupid videos. I fanboy about my favorite games, like Earthbound and Death Stranding, and my favorite movies, like Scott Pilgrim VS the World and Yesterday—all of which become my favorites because I’m an Enneagram 4 who values creativity and uniqueness far too much.
