When preparing to start an exorcism session, wait on the Lord. If nothing happens, then wait on the Lord again. If still nothing happens, wait on the Lord some more. There are a few tricks you can try while waiting to see if anything is getting in the way, but in my model of exorcism, it’s best not to start until the Holy Spirit has made himself known to the participant. So wait, wait, and wait. Most participants can tell when something has shifted in some way.

The psalmists were well aware of this dynamic, and they often called their readers to wait upon the Lord as they did. With this in mind, it’s no wonder that the lyrics of so many Psalms became prophetic. The prophets could also feel a shift when the Holy Spirit showed up. Ezekiel, in particular, recognized such shifts as the “hand of the Lord” coming upon him.

If you’re looking for answers from the Holy Spirit, then according to Jesus, you may need to seek God out impudently. But this will often take time. You may find yourself praying and waiting for a few minutes or hours. It may take a few days to get your answer. In an exorcism session, the Holy Spirit often shows up relatively quickly. But for those struggling with patience, it may seem to take forever. You’ll need to let go of your sense of time for a session to move forward. You want the Holy Spirit’s direction to get any demons out. Almost all of my sessions go at least 60-90 minutes. Some max out around three hours.
