“Stop Being a Butt,” Says the Lord | How God Adjusts His Tone Between Christians

I woke up one morning to the most interesting text. A participant had a vision during the night that ended with Jesus saying, “Oh and tell Jamin, ‘Stop being a butt. I’ve been telling you what I want you to do. You will know that it is ready in the fullness of shema.’”

That was a prophetic word I needed at the time to help me be faithful to many impressions God had put on my heart that I wasn’t acting on. He further validated this word as legitimate by tagging a Hebrew word onto the end of it that my participant didn’t know. (The Shema is “The most fundamental expression of the Jewish faith” which is based around Deuteronomy 6:4-9.)

Jesus said his sheep know his voice. I have found this to be true in exorcism, as the Holy Spirit sounds very similar in each person I work with. But at the same time, I have seen him adjust his visions, words, and tone to match the participant he is speaking to. He speaks to people by using their interests, passions, personality, and language.

Other participants would have thought they were hearing the wrong spirit if God told them I was a butt, but this participant was willing to believe it was God’s voice (even though they were initially confused by the language and nervous to send it to me).

This word didn’t hit me weird at all. I could easily imagine this participant calling me a butt in a joking-yet-convicting way, and God decided to tap their language and personality so that I would hear it as playful critique. I reflected on that word a lot over the coming months, and it was quite helpful to me. Good fruit came from it.

When you’re leading people through exorcism, expect Jesus to speak differently-yet-similarly in each person. You’ll recognize his voice even though he has translated himself in a way that the participant can relate with.
